Department store chain Walmart announced a partnership with private postal company FedEx to simplify the return process for items purchased from Walmart.com’s online site.

The new service, called Carrier Pickup by FedEx, offers free returns. And while the service began operating last year’s holiday season, the company announced that it will continue this year.

Customers who wish to return a product purchased online can print a return label through the Walmart online site or Walmart app and set a date for a FedEx employee to pick up the package. Refunds will be made on the second day after the return of the purchase, and if the goods are returned in the store, then on the same day. A number of chain stores will have additional points for receiving returned goods.

In other words, Walmart now offers a return service similar to that offered by another retail giant, online Amazon, which allows you to return free items purchased on its site through Whole Foods, Kohl’s, and UPS private mail points within 30 days of delivery of goods to the buyer, without labels and not even packed. Therefore, experts see the new Walmart service as a challenge to its powerful competitor in the struggle for the online retail sector.
