A Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection has been created, but not all studies have been completed yet. According to him, the fact that the vaccine is designed does not mean that it is allowed in the programs for the prevention of coronavirus. “If data of evidence-based medicine, which will be obtained by the Russian side, are presented, then it will be of interest in all countries,” he said on the air of NSN.

Virologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Anatoly Alshtein said that the Russian vaccine has been tested on monkeys and two phases of research on people under the supervision of doctors in medical institutions. He added that she had proven herself well and it was decided that the vaccine could be tested on a mass audience.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was the first in the world to register a vaccine against coronavirus infection. The head of state noted the effective work of the Russian vaccine and stressed that it had passed all the necessary tests. Putin also said that one of his daughters had experienced the Russian coronavirus vaccine, RNS reports. The vaccine was named Sputnik V.

On July 25, the Chumakov Federal Research and Development Center for Immunobiological Preparations of the Russian Academy of Sciences submitted an application for participation in the WHO international tender for the supply of a vaccine against coronavirus.

At the same time, on July 22, Murashko said that the vaccine against this infection, created by the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, could receive a registration certificate in the first ten days of August. According to him, its effectiveness against COVID-19 is there, and safety has already been confirmed.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Russia, 897,599 cases of coronavirus have been detected in 85 regions. Over the entire period, 15,131 deaths were recorded, 703,175 people recovered.

The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, began at the end of December last year. The Chinese city of Wuhan became the hotbed of infection.
