In five regions of Russia, 25 underground gunsmiths were detained and 12 workshops were liquidated. This was announced on Thursday, August 6, at the Public Relations Center (DSP) of the FSB of Russia.
“In five regions, the activities of 25 persons involved in the modernization of civilian weapons into military counterparts, in the manufacture of ammunition in underground workshops and their sale in the country were suppressed,” the statement said.
It is noted that a special operation with the participation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard was carried out in Moscow, St. Petersburg, as well as in the Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and Belgorod regions, where a total of 12 workshops were terminated.
The FSB added that 116 units of military firearms, as well as civilian ones with restored combat properties, were seized from illegal circulation.
Earlier, on August 3, FSB officers stopped the activities of 42 people in 12 regions of Russia, who were modernizing civilian weapons into combat analogues. Also, the attackers were engaged in the manufacture of ammunition and the sale of products illegally manufactured by them in various regions of the country.
In total, during the operation to suppress the activities of underground gunsmiths, 22 workshops were identified. They were equipped with specialized equipment, including 3D printers.
