Blogger Michael Bekmambetov posted a video on TikTok where he approached three homeless people and handed them a package of groceries. The video scored more than 150,000 views per day and hitting the Tik-Tok trends, caused a storm of emotions and criticism.

Some users were outraged by the fact that the author filmed it on video and advised him to leave his phone at home at such moments.

“When you help the poor, leave the camera at home,” one of the TikTokers wrote in the comments under the video.

“You don’t even do that with a camera,” one of the commentators wrote back to him.

The majority of TikTok users still positively assessed the young man’s act and advised critics not to tell him what to do.

Blogger Michael Bekmambetov, in turn, published a post on his Instagram and noted that he knows it is not customary in society to talk about helping people in need. He advised critics to look at it from a different angle.

“International surveys conducted in different countries tell us about one interesting detail. If you tell on social networks that you have done a good deed, for example, you donated 100 som to someone, then 25% of people who read this become interested in charity. Perhaps this is an overly optimistic forecast, but the fact remains that by helping openly, we are developing a culture of charity in our country, ”the blogger noted.

He also gave an example of the sundress effect:

“For our acquaintances, loved ones or people who trust you, a good positive review or a story about a new life experience is the main engine and the main reason to take the same action. This is a well-known fact. Now I want to turn to the critics: you can help silently, this is your choice, but if I can help 4 times more by telling other people about it, then I’m going to do it openly. And this is my choice. Not for hype, but in order to bring maximum benefit, because this will additionally attract 4 times more help to people in need, “wrote Michael Bekmambetov.
