The candidate for the presidency of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya left her apartment in Minsk on the eve of the elections for security reasons, the politician’s press secretary Anna Krasulina said.
According to her, a large number of law enforcement officers in civilian clothes gathered near the house of Tikhanovskaya and a suspicious minibus drove up. Currently, the politician is surrounded by supporters and journalists.
“Considering that two of her closest assistants, who recently spent the night next to her for security reasons, were isolated – these are Chief of Staff Maria Moroz and confidant Oleg Moiseev – in order not to leave her alone in this situation, she was simply transported to where we will all be able to protect her, “RIA Novosti quotes Krasulin.
She refused to indicate the exact location of Tikhanovskaya.
On August 8, it became known that in Minsk it was reported about the detention of representatives of the headquarters of the ex-head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko and Tikhanovskaya. Tikhanovskaya’s supporter Maria Moroz has been detained for the second time in the past few days.
