The presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya came to cancel the election rally in the Friendship of Peoples Park, to which she had previously invited supporters.
As reported by TUT.BY, according to the press secretary of the candidate Anna Krasulina, the authorities urgently arranged a holiday of the railway troops in the park and sent a notification to Tikhanovskaya’s headquarters that her rally could not be held there.
“We are not allowed to hold rallies on any site in Minsk, the same as in Slutsk and Soligorsk. These are absolutely illegal actions of the authorities, we appealed this decision to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Central Election Commission and the Minsk City Executive Committee,” Krasulina noted.
She added that instead of a pre-election rally, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, together with Maria Kolesnikova and Veronika Tsepkalo, will go at 19:00 to Kievsky Square, where the city authorities are holding an “Open Day of Additional Education Institutions.”
