The turnout in the elections in Belarus was 45.33%

The turnout in the presidential elections in Belarus as of 10:00, together with early voting, amounted to 45.33%, said on Sunday, August 9, the head of the Central Election Commission of the republic, Lidia Yermoshina.

“At the current hour (at 10.00 – Ed.) 45.33% of voters have voted,” she said on the website of the Belteleradiocompany.

The current Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko promised in turn that the situation would not get out of control.

“Nothing will get out of control. This I guarantee you. This is the main task of the current government, not only the president, ”BelTA quoted him as saying.

The Central Election Commission registered five candidates – Andrey Dmitriev, Anna Kanopatskaya, Alexander Lukashenko, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Sergey Cherechnya. Two applicants – Viktor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo – were denied registration.

Earlier, on July 16, the headquarters of Tikhanovskaya, as well as those who did not pass registration Tsepkalo and Babariko, announced that they were uniting.

Lukashenko has been in office since 1994. If he wins, this will be the sixth term.
