The number of detected cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine per day increased by 5,133, exceeding 270 thousand, follows from the data published on the website of the Ukrainian System for Monitoring the Spread of Coronavirus on October 13.

Most of all new cases over the past day were detected in the Kharkiv region (439), in Kiev (397), as well as in the Lviv (341) and Dnepropetrovsk (305) regions.

The total number of detected cases of COVID-19 in the country has reached 270,587. 116,562 patients have recovered, of which 2,152 in the last day. 5122 people died during the entire spread of the coronavirus.

The chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko called for an extension of quarantine in the country until the end of this year, 112 Ukraine reports.

Earlier, on October 13, Ukrainian blogger and politician Anatoly Shariy said that the country could start purchasing Russian vaccine against coronavirus disguised as European.

According to him, the drug will be sent to the European Union, there it will be poured and brought to Ukraine “not as a Russian vaccine,” writes Gazeta.ru.

On October 9, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party, Alexander Kachura, called on Kiev to purchase the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, since the main priority for the state should be the life and health of citizens.

However, later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country would receive a “real” vaccine from the European Union.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in turn, several days earlier expressed his readiness to supply Ukraine with “Sputnik V” if necessary.
