In St. Petersburg, by September this year, the restoration of the Nabokovs’ house on Bolshaya Morskaya Street should be completed. There is a museum of the writer. Renovation work has been ongoing since 2014.

After the completion of the restoration, the building will house the Bortnyansky St. Petersburg Children’s Art School. All work should be completed by the beginning of the new academic year, reports the TV channel “78” with reference to the city committee for state control, use and protection of historical and cultural monuments.

The historic premises are being restored in stages by order of the administration of the Admiralteisky District. On the walls of the main staircase, under a layer of plaster, experts found donkey marble. It is an artificial decorative material that imitates natural marble.

In addition, fragments of gilding were found under the oil paint on the ceiling decor in the room of Nabokova’s boudoir. For this reason, they decided to preserve the ceiling.

In the future, the museum will continue to operate in the ceremonial rooms of the first floor.

Earlier it was reported that the restoration of 13 objects of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra should be completed in St. Petersburg by the end of this year. By this time, it is also planned to restore the facades.
