The Public Chamber of Russia proposed introducing mandatory routine checks of electrical wiring in apartments. The proposal, according to experts, turned out to be practically impossible to put into practice because of the citizens’ ownership of the apartment, including the power supply network and equipment. In the Smolensk region, according to the estimates of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Smolensk region, electrical problems are among the leaders. According to the monitoring results for 10 months of this year, they rank first as the cause of fires. On the official website of the regional administration, it is noted that by the beginning of November, the largest number of fires occurred due to violation of the rules for the design and operation of electrical equipment, this was the cause of 227 fires.
