The Russian Federation will continue to maintain contacts with Brazil on the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. This was announced on Tuesday, April 27, by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

He noted that if the Brazilian side lacks any data, they will be provided.

At the same time, Peskov pointed out that there is a lot of data on the effectiveness of the Russian vaccine. “The experience is already very great. Big data has already been formed, which indicates that this is the most effective vaccine in the world and the most reliable, ”he stressed.

The Kremlin spokesman also recalled that the demand for the Russian drug in the world is very high, in connection with which everyone involved in the production of the vaccine is “working in an emergency mode.”

On April 26, Brazil’s National Sanitation Agency (Anvisa) denied import and use of Sputnik V. The decision was approved unanimously by all members of the regulator’s board.

The head of Anvisa’s Medicines and Biological Products Department, Gustavo Mendes, noted that one of the critical moments was the presence of a multiplying adenovirus in the vaccine.

At the same time, experts from the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications of Brazil recognized Sputnik V as safe and approved its commercial release on the territory of the state.

The developers of the Russian vaccine did not rule out that Anvisa’s refusal to import permission to import Sputnik V into the country has political reasons. They recalled that last year the United States tried to prevent Brazil from acquiring the Russian vaccine as part of Washington’s overall efforts to counter the “bad influence” on the countries of the Americas.

The Russian drug “Sputnik V” is one of the three global vaccines against COVID-19 in terms of the number of approvals received by state regulators. The drug was developed by the specialists of the Gamaleya Center. Sputnik V was registered in August last year. It became the first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and in the world.
