The head of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff (KNS) of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milli, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, during a telephone conversation on Monday, January 11, discussed security issues of mutual interest to both sides. This is stated in a circulated written statement by the official representative of the KNSh Colonel Dave Butler.
“Milli spoke on the phone today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov and the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, as well as with several colleagues (from other countries – Ed.) Over the past days. The topics of discussion included issues of mutual interest, including the current security situation, ”Butler was quoted by TASS.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the conversation took place at the initiative of the American side.
On December 13, General Mark Milli, the head of the Chief of Staff of the US Armed Forces, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that Russia remains a great power thanks to the high professionalism of its military personnel. Among the advantages of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, he named the ability to find non-traditional ways of solving the assigned tasks, as well as the high level of combat readiness of the aerospace and cybernetic components of the Russian army.
In this regard, he pointed to the danger of underestimating the Russian Armed Forces.
The last time Gerasimov and Milli called in August last year after an incident with the US military, who tried to block the passage of a Russian military patrol in Syria.
