The fourth flight with specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry flew to Beirut to provide assistance to the victims of the explosion. This was announced on Thursday, August 6, by the TASS press service.

“At 07:38 Moscow time, the Il-76 plane, which returned from Lebanon at night, again flew to Beirut to help the injured. An additional grouping of the Centrospas detachment and special equipment are on board, ”the Emergencies Ministry told the agency.

The ministry also added that the third plane arrived in Beirut at 08:04 Moscow time to provide assistance. The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that these flights delivered doctors, rescuers, department psychologists, Rospotrebnadzor specialists, as well as an airmobile hospital and equipment for deploying a laboratory to detect coronavirus, to the Lebanese capital.

In total, five flights with equipment for the deployment of an airmobile hospital should arrive in the Lebanese capital. Also, more than 150 Russian specialists will fly to Beirut to assist in the elimination of the consequences of the emergency.

The explosion in the area of ​​the seaport of Beirut occurred on 4 August. 137 people died, about 5 thousand were injured. The facades of several buildings located in the immediate vicinity of the site of the emergency collapsed, houses and offices were damaged. As a result of the incident, about 300 thousand people were left homeless.

According to Prime Minister Hassan Diab, the explosion was caused by improper storage of ammonium nitrate weighing 2,750 tons in a warehouse in the port.
