A criminal case was opened after a collision between a boat and a barge in Surgut, which killed four people, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported on September 9.
“Investigative bodies of the Ural Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the fact of a collision on the Chernoy River near the city of Surgut, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, a boat with a standing barge on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic safety rules and operation of inland waterway transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence), ”the message says.
According to the investigation, on September 9, 2020, in the evening, a barge and a boat collided on the Chernaya River near the city of Surgut, in which there were eight people, including one child. As a result of the collision, four were killed.
Izvestia also reported that four people were injured, they were hospitalized, among them there is a child about three years old.
At present, investigators are conducting an inspection of the scene, and eyewitnesses of the incident are being established and questioned.
Investigators establish the owner of the boat, as well as whether he has a license to carry passengers and documents confirming the ship’s suitability for sailing and permitting its operation.
On February 10, two boats collided on the island of Phuket, Thailand, killing two. More than 30 Russians and a Thai guide were on board.
