The Baltics recorded a sharp daily increase in COVID-19 cases

In Lithuania and Latvia, a sharp increase in coronavirus diseases was recorded per day, and in Estonia the number of COVID-19 infected people also increased.

According to the BNS agency, on August 3, 10 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Lithuania, on August 4 – 17 new cases, on August 5, 10 cases of COVID-19 were recorded per day. Also on August 6 – 24 new cases of infection.

In Latvia on August 3 and 4, three new cases of infection were detected, on August 5 – eight, and on August 6 – already 18 new cases.

According to the agency, some of the cases came from Serbia and Ireland, nine cases are associated with a focus in the Murjansk sports gymnasium.

“The incidence is increasing, and we are no longer in the scenario that was in July, now a different scenario. We must comply with the rules that were announced earlier – be it the rule of quarantine or hygiene, ”said Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas.

It is noted that most cases of coronavirus are associated with the work of entertainment establishments. The health departments say the next two weeks will be a critical period for the Baltics.
