State Duma Deputy Sergei Vostretsov came up with an initiative to label products with warning signs about possible negative health effects, including due to high salt or sugar content, as well as cigarettes.
“Forcing people not to eat bad products is the same as forcing people not to smoke …” – said the parliamentarian. According to him, it is necessary to clearly label that such and such a product has a high sugar content, and this can lead to disease, in particular, of the gastrointestinal tract, or this product contains a large amount of salt.
The MP stressed that the warnings on the labels should be large, the marking should be made bright. According to Vostretsov, if manufacturers are forced to label their products, they will be interested in producing better quality goods.
