Former head of Khakassia Zimin will be buried in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

The farewell ceremony for the ex-head of Khakassia Viktor Zimin will be held on November 24 at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow, while the funeral will be held in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

On November 23, the head of the Askiz district of Khakassia Abrek Cheltygmashev announced this on his Instagram page.

“The farewell ceremony for Viktor Mikhailovich Zimin will be held tomorrow at the Troekurovsky cemetery (Moscow) at 12:00. Viktor Mikhailovich will be buried in the Krasnoyarsk Territory next to his parents. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, ”he wrote.

In which settlement the ex-head of Khakassia will be buried, Cheltygmashev did not specify.

Zimin’s death became known on November 23. It was reported that he suffered from severe pneumonia. Zimin was hospitalized in August; during a working trip to the Far East, he was diagnosed with a coronavirus. He was being treated at a military hospital in Moscow.

Victor Zimin was born on August 23, 1962. In 1981 he graduated from the Abakan Agricultural College (now the Agricultural College as a part of the Khakass State University named after N.F.Katanov), in 2007 – from the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

On December 10, 2008, deputies of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Khakassia endowed Viktor Zimin with the powers of the chairman of the government of Khakassia. On January 15, 2009, he took up his mandate.

In 2013, Zimin was elected head of the Republic of Khakassia, more than 63% of voters voted for him.

In 2018, Zimin took part in the elections for the post of head of the republic, but two days before the second round scheduled for September 23, he withdrew his candidacy “for health reasons.” Valentin Konovalov became the head of the region.

Since March 2019, Viktor Zimin has worked as Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, Head of the Railway Development Directorate at the Eastern Range.
