Czech police said on Tuesday they were looking for a rifle “luckily unloaded” and stolen from a hunter by a deer last week.
The animal fled with a rifle stuck in its woods during a hunt near the town of Horni Plana (southwest).
“The deer was surprised by a dog. He got up and rushed at the hunter, walking past him and tearing the left sleeve of his jacket, ”regional police said on their website.
“The rifle hanging from the hunter’s left shoulder, fortunately unloaded, slipped on the antlers of the deer and disappeared with the animal,” added the police.
A little later, another hunter spotted the deer with the rifle still stuck in its antlers about a mile from where it was stolen. Research carried out by hunters in the forest has so far yielded nothing.
