Shoigu arrived in Komsomolsk-on-Amur

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday, August 12, arrived on a working trip to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the department said.

It is noted that the minister will check the fulfillment of the state defense order at the Amur shipyard and the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant named after Y.A. Gagarin (KnAAZ), Interfax reports.

Shoigu of the department will inspect the construction of warships for the Russian Navy, as well as the main production workshops of KnAAZ, which is a branch of PJSC Sukhoi Company.

Under the state defense order, KnAAZ produces Su-35S and Su-57 fighters.

As the general director of KnAAZ Ilya Tarasenko told reporters, the execution of the state defense order in terms of the production of the Su-35S in 2020 is ahead of schedule, “by the end of the year, the production line of the new generation Su-57 will be launched.”

Earlier, on July 29, at the Amur Shipyard (ASZ) in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the laying ceremony of a small missile ship – the carrier of cruise missiles “Caliber” of project 22800 (“Karakurt”) took place. The vessel is intended for the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) and is being built as part of the state defense order.
