More than 241 thousand citizens remain under medical supervision in Russia due to suspicions of a new coronavirus infection. This was announced on Sunday, August 9, by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

“241,925 people remain under medical supervision in the Russian Federation,” the message says.

In total, according to the department, more than 30.6 million tests were carried out in the country to detect infection. During the day, 298 thousand tests were carried out.

On July 27, the Novosibirsk Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology “Vector” began the clinical phase of trials of a vaccine against coronavirus infection. On August 2, the head of the center, Rinat Maksyutov, noted that the institution intends to begin production of the vaccine in November.

On August 4, Rospotrebnadzor reported that three volunteers who received the vaccine prepared by Vector had no complications and were doing well.

The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, began at the end of December last year. The Chinese city of Wuhan became the hotbed of infection. For several months, the disease has spread to more than 210 countries of the world. On March 11, WHO announced a coronavirus pandemic.

According to the latest data, 882,347 cases of coronavirus were detected in Russia. Over the entire period, 14 854 deaths were recorded, 690 207 people recovered.
