The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, co-chairman of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Vadim Rabinovich harshly criticized the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to cancel local elections in the east of the country. He stated this on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel.

The parliamentarian noted that residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions had the right to vote in the presidential elections under the last President Petro Poroshenko and during the last parliamentary vote. In this regard, the Ukrainian legislator expressed bewilderment at the ban on holding local elections in this part of the country.

“What has worsened in the life of our country in a year that now people are not allowed to vote?” – asked Rabinovich. According to the politician, it is “shameful and bitter”.

Recall that the Rada has scheduled the next local elections for October 25, but they will not be held in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions not controlled by Kiev.
