The Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection “Sputnik V” will begin production in Brazil from January 15, according to the Twitter account of Sputnik V, where the news of the drug developers is published.
“Brazil will start production of the Sputnik V on January 15th,” the January 11th post said.
On the eve, Rogerio Rosso, director for international relations of the Brazilian pharmaceutical manufacturer Uniao Quimica, said that the company plans to produce 8 million doses of Sputnik V monthly in the country.
According to the Worldometer portal on Monday, more than 8.1 million cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Brazil, more than 203 thousand patients died.
On January 10, Algeria was the first in Africa to register the Russian drug Sputnik V. Vaccinations of the country’s population will begin in January.
Sputnik V has become the first vaccine against coronavirus in Russia and the world. The drug was developed at the Gamaleya Center, it was registered on August 11. The final effectiveness of the Russian vaccine was 91.4%, and the preventive effectiveness against severe cases reached 100%.
Many countries have become interested in the drug, deliveries have already begun to Argentina and Serbia. In addition, Bolivia purchased 5.2 million doses of the Russian vaccine. The Guinean authorities have also begun to distribute Sputnik V among the population.
