Kyrgyz President-elect Sadyr Japarov turned down the cortege during his inauguration and a banquet after it. This was announced on Friday, January 22, by the press service of the head of the Kyrgyz state.

“I have decided to abandon a special motorcade, banquet and other organizational events that entail large financial costs. It is important to take into account and implement only the mandatory procedures required by law for the inauguration of the president, ”the publication says.

As Japarov stressed, the state should “focus all its attention on the use of state funds in support of the people and their needs.”

His inauguration is scheduled for January 28.

A day earlier, Japarov officially resigned as prime minister of the republic.

Japarov came to power in the country in 2020 after protests against the results of the parliamentary elections in October and subsequent riots. To participate in the presidential elections, on November 14, he resigned as acting head of state and suspended his duties as prime minister.

The presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan and a referendum to determine the form of government in the republic took place on January 10. The turnout was just under 40%.

On January 16, the country’s Central Election Commission announced that, as a result of manual counting of 100% of ballots, Japarov won 79.23% of the votes and won the early presidential elections. Four days later, the CEC of Kyrgyzstan officially recognized Japarov as the winner of the early presidential elections. His inauguration will take place on January 28.
