Ambassador Dmitry Mezentsev called the detention of Russians in Belarus an order of third countries.

According to the Russian diplomat, he has facts to support this version. He noted that the provocation was needed to deteriorate relations between Moscow and Minsk on the eve of the presidential elections in Belarus.

The ambassador said that the Russians still do not understand why they were detained, and also do not agree with the accusations of organizing the riots. Mezentsev expressed regret that the security forces detained the Russians without interacting with their Russian colleagues.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Alexander Lukashenko. The heads of state agreed to settle the current situation in the spirit of “mutual understanding characteristic of cooperation between the two countries.”
