One of the founders of the hip-hop group The Roots, Malik Abdul Basit, known as Malik B., has died in the United States. The death of the musician is reported on the band’s Twitter.
“We regret to announce the passing of our beloved brother and longtime Roots member Malik Abdul Basit. May he be remembered for his dedication to Islam and as one of the most gifted MCs of all time, ”wrote The Roots.
The musicians asked to respect Malik’s family “at this time of mourning.”
The reason why 47-year-old Malik B. died is not named, according to the TV channel “360”.
The recordings featuring Malik Abdul Basit were included in the first four albums of The Roots. In the mid-2000s, he took up a solo career.
On July 28, it was reported that former Primal Scream singer Denise Johnson has passed away at the age of 53. According to the family, the cause of death is not yet known, but the singer was found on the morning of July 27 with an inhaler in her hand.
