The New Year holidays, as always, were restless for the Karelian traffic police: they had to carry out preventive measures “Karelia without road accidents”. Unfortunately, traditionally, the holidays were not without extreme sportsmen who got behind the wheel while drunk. Thus, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate stopped 94 drunk drivers, and 35 – only in the Karelian capital.
The most interesting thing is that 11 drivers were caught driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication again – they will face criminal liability. Among the violators were representatives of the beautiful half of humanity: 8 women also drove a car under the influence.
The traffic police explained that due to the fault of drunk drivers in Karelia there were also 2 accidents. So, on January 4, a 22-year-old young man in a VAZ-2107 car crashed into a KIA Cerato and was injured. And on January 9 in Petrozavodsk, a drunk driver in a Nissan Murano did not calculate the situation on the road and collided with a KIA Sportage car. As a result, the 38-year-old KIA driver and his 38-year-old passenger were injured in an accident.
