The federal program “Young in Soul” will start working in Moscow on the basis of the resource center “Mosvolonter” for volunteers over 55 years old. This was announced on Friday, January 15, on the official website of the mayor and the government of the capital.

Ekaterina Dragunova, Chairperson of the Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of Moscow, noted that everyone, regardless of age and profession, can become a volunteer at city events or actions.

“Silver” volunteering is an incredibly promising direction, because older Muscovites can share with us their life experience, wisdom, and become mentors for young people. But it is also an area that requires attention and new solutions that will change attitudes towards old age. The Young at Heart program will be the first big and important step in this direction in 2021, ”Dragunova said.

In order to become a volunteer for the program, volunteers over 55 years old will need to fill out a form on the official Mosvolonter website. All volunteers will receive thematic training, depending on the level of training in this area.

It is specified that the federal program “Young at heart” is being implemented at the initiative of the Association of Volunteer Centers in conjunction with the charitable foundation “Memory of Generations”. The goal of the program is to create a comprehensive system for supporting the volunteer activities of older citizens.

Today in Moscow there are over 600 volunteers over 55 years old.

At the beginning of November, it was reported that since January 2020, the number of volunteers in Moscow has increased by 15.5 thousand. Deputy Mayor of the capital Natalya Sergunina reported that today there are over 97.5 thousand people in the Mosvolonter base.

On November 3, it became known that in Moscow, about 2 thousand volunteers have worked almost 30 thousand hours at mobile stations for vaccination against influenza.
