Maria Kolesnikova, a member of the coordination council of the Belarusian opposition, was detained while trying to illegally cross the border of the republic. The state agency BelTA writes about this on Tuesday, September 8.
“The members of the coordinating council for the seizure of power Anton Rodnenkov and Ivan Kravtsov fled abroad that night. Now they are on the territory of Ukraine. Their colleague Maria Kolesnikova tried to illegally leave the territory of the Republic of Belarus, but was detained at the border, ”the newspaper writes in its Telegram channel.
Earlier on the same day, the official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky said that Kravtsov and Rodnenkov had crossed the border with Ukraine.
On the eve of the ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said that the Belarusian authorities were involved in the disappearance of the opposition. The opposition will seek the release of prisoners and the holding of fair elections, she stressed.
The police said they had no information about the detention of representatives of the coordination council of the Belarusian opposition.
On the same day it was reported that Kolesnikov was allegedly kidnapped in the center of Minsk by unknown persons in civilian clothes and wearing masks.
The creation of a coordinating council for the peaceful transfer of power in Belarus was initiated by former presidential candidate Tikhanovskaya after the presidential elections in Belarus on August 9. She and her associates did not recognize the election results announced by the country’s Central Election Commission, according to which Alexander Lukashenko won.
