President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, spoke about the nickname he received from Madeleine Albright when she served as US Secretary of State.
“The last dictator of Europe – such a nickname was given to me by Madeleine Albright, the then US Secretary of State. Probably because I did not fit into the standards of Western democracy. Now they have understood the rationale behind Lukashenko’s policy, the order and stability that exist in Belarus,” he stated.
Also, the Belarusian leader commented on his other well-known nickname – “Father”.
“Kindly, I liked this nickname 20 years ago. And now … it is already a certain brand of Belarus and Lukashenko himself,” the head of state added.
