The runway will be lengthened at the Kaluga airport. According to RosTender.info, 111.5 million rubles are planned to be spent for these purposes.

“Kaluga International Airport will soon begin work on the modernization of the airfield. For example, the institution announced a tender for the preparation of a project for the upcoming reconstruction. It is planned to lengthen the existing runway and increase the strength of the artificial turf. The cost of these works is estimated at 111, 5 million rubles, “the message says.

Funding for this work will come from the own funds of the Aerodrom institution. Currently, applications are being accepted. They can be submitted until February 3, and on February 5 the purchase results will be summed up.

The basis for these works was the order of the head of the region Vladislav Shapsha dated December 22, 2020.

Now the size of the runway with artificial turf is 2.2 thousand by 45 meters, the size of the runway is 2.5 thousand by 300 meters, the surface of the runway is asphalt concrete. The class of the airfield will not change after the reconstruction, but after that, it will be able to receive MC-21-300 aircraft.

Designers will need to consider maximum runway extension within the perimeter of the aerodrome and maximum utilization of lighting components. The replacement of the coating should be taking into account the use of the calculated type of aircraft – MC-21-300 aircraft.

MS-21 is a Russian medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft. The program of the MC-21 aircraft family is being developed by the Irkut corporation, which includes the Yakovlev Design Bureau.
