Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Victoria Abramchenko approved a roadmap for improving forest fire protection. This was announced on Thursday, January 14, by the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister.

“Victoria Abramchenko approved a roadmap to improve the forest fire protection system. <...> The most important in the list of measures will be the creation in 2021 of an interregional forest fire center “Sever”, designed to extinguish fires in the most “flammable” regions, in remote and remote areas, in particular in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Krasnoyarsk Territory “, – the statement says.

5 billion rubles have already been allocated for the creation of the center. In addition, in order to improve the system of fighting forest fires, it is planned to approve the methodology for calculating the damage.

The authorities also decided to modernize the information system for remote monitoring of forest fires of the Federal Forestry Agency in order to quickly respond to fires.

In November, it became known that the area of forest fires in the Krasnoyarsk Territory in 2020 decreased by almost five times compared to 2019.

In September, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that drones and army aviation are involved in monitoring the situation with forest fires.
