On the morning of December 28 at 4.30 am in Irkutsk happened a fire in the building of the nursery “K-9”, which houses a shelter for homeless animals. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Irkutsk Region.
The fire started in the veterinary unit and crossed the house where the Slavin families, the owners of the nursery, lived.
25 dogs were evacuated from the vetblock. There are victims among the animals, including seriously. It is known that one puppy died. Medicines, documents and food were burnt.
People miraculously escaped the fire, if the nursery and the shelter caught fire, hundreds of dogs, as well as several wild animals, would die.
Earlier, the shelter at the “K-9” took animals from the scandalously known shelter in Irkutsk, LLC “Five stars”, which belongs to Alexander Soldatov. For 10 years, independent animal rights activists have drawn attention to the fact that the animals in Soldatov’s shelter were not fed, watered and did not provide medical assistance. In addition, there were many questions about the capture of stray dogs – the packs continued to run through the streets, and small dogs disappeared from private yards. This year, local media and activists filmed horrifying footage of emaciated animals, as well as the frozen corpses of dogs that were put in the freezer while still alive. After that, the animals were taken to their homes and other shelters.
The local community dealing with the issue of homeless animals believes that almost every multimillion-dollar tender of Soldiers is received through nepotism.
Now is again the time to receive a tender for catching, keeping and sterilizing animals. The owner of the K-9 shelter, Vyacheslav Slavin, said in social networks that he was sure that the fire that had occurred was arson. There is no wiring in the room where the fire started. Social activists are sure that this is how Five Stars LLC is trying to get rid of competitors. Earlier, a petition was created on Alexander Soldatov on change.org asking to prosecute him for cruelty to animals… It was signed by almost 50 thousand people.
The investigation will investigate the causes of the fire, as well as the shelter. So far there have been no official comments.
On the eve of the scandalous withdrawal of animals from the “Five Stars” orphanage, the institution was visited by the governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev.
