The data on the dangerous consequences of the coronavirus make us think even more about compliance with safety measures. According to the study, in a fifth of all patients infected with coronavirus and who were hospitalized in German clinics this spring, the disease was fatal, Tagesschau reports.
According to the AOK Scientific Institute, the German Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, and the Technical University of Berlin, a particularly high mortality rate was noted in patients requiring mechanical ventilation. It was 53%. For the study, data from nearly 10,000 patients were studied, 1,700 of whom needed to be connected to a ventilator.
Among hospitalized patients with coronavirus, but not requiring a ventilator, the mortality rate was 16 percent.
