The Erlangen-based Virology Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GfV) reports that work on a PCR test that can detect the mutated SARS-CoV-2 virus identified in England is currently in full swing. However, when the test will appear, it is impossible to say for sure.
GfV representatives also emphasize that the fact that the mutated SARS-CoV-2 virus is spreading faster does not mean that it must necessarily be accompanied by a more severe course of the disease. The experts said that reducing the number of infected people will help reduce the number of infections with this virus. Compliance with sanitary and epidemiological measures in this situation, as well as all restrictive measures, is extremely important.
