Ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Viktor Ishaev, accused of embezzlement, was hospitalized with a heart attack. This was announced on Wednesday, December 16, by the Izvestia correspondent.

According to him, the defendant did not appear at the court session. His lawyers provided a certificate of the required hospitalization in connection with a heart attack and petitioned to postpone the trial until Ishaev recovered.

“The prosecutor doubted the words of Ishaev’s lawyers and asked to make a request to the hospital to confirm the hospitalization,” the journalist noted. The court postponed the hearing to 9:00 on December 17.

On December 8, Ishaev pleaded not guilty to embezzlement of 7.5 million rubles during a meeting of the Zamoskvoretsky court in Moscow. Guilt in the embezzlement was admitted only by the ex-director of the Rosneft representative office in the regional center Gennady Kondratov, who is involved in the case as Ishaev’s accomplice.

The former official was detained in Moscow on the morning of March 28. He was taken for interrogation to the Investigative Committee of Russia. At the end of the same month, the court sent the ex-official under house arrest.

According to the investigation, in 2014, Ishaev, being vice president and adviser to the president of Rosneft in the Khabarovsk Territory, organized the conclusion of a lease agreement for office space with the commercial organization Beis LLC controlled by him. The price of the deal was overstated, thus the former official tried to steal the property of the company he headed, the investigation believes.

Kondratov, in turn, misled the members of the procurement commission about the cost of the rent. After that, within five years – until March 2019 – Kondratov transferred the rent, which was overstated, to the account of LLC “Beis”. Thus, he wasted more than 7.5 million rubles entrusted to him by Rosneft.

The defendants in the case are accused of committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 33, part 4 of Art. 160 and part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of embezzlement and embezzlement of entrusted property, committed with the use of official position, on an especially large scale”). They face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
