In Kalmykia, the head of a peasant farm “Buddha” is accused of fraud in obtaining federal subsidies worth more than 23 million rubles.

According to the investigation, the head of the Buddha farm in 2016-2018, within the framework of the federal target program for the development of land reclamation for agricultural purposes, submitted to the Republican Ministry of Agriculture fictitious documents to reimburse the costs for the allegedly carried out work on the construction of irrigated areas and the purchase of equipment for irrigated agriculture. In this way, he illegally received subsidies in the amount of more than 23 million rubles.

In 2019, the same farmer again applied to the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic. This time, with a statement about transferring a subsidy to him to reimburse part of the costs associated with the reconstruction of an irrigated area, with the attachment of documents containing deliberately false information. However, his actions aimed at embezzling budget funds in the amount of 510 thousand rubles were suppressed by law enforcement agencies.

The prosecutor’s office of Kalmykia sent a criminal case with an approved indictment against the head of the “Buddha” farm to the court for consideration on the merits. He is accused of fraud in obtaining federal subsidies in the field of agriculture in the amount of more than 23 million rubles. In order to compensate for the damage caused by the actions of the farmer, his property in the amount of more than 25 million rubles was arrested.
