Criminal case opened in Sakhalin after poisoning 14 workers

After the poisoning of 14 workers of the Energostroy enterprise located in Uglegorsk in the Sakhalin region, a criminal case was opened. This was announced on Tuesday, May 4, by the press service of the Investigative Department of the RF IC for the region.

“The Investigation Department for the city of Uglegorsk of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Sakhalin Region, upon an article published in one of the media, about the poisoning of 14 employees of one of the enterprises in the Uglegorsk District, initiated a criminal case on grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – production, storage or sale of goods and products that do not meet safety requirements, ”the ministry said in a statement.

It is clarified that within the framework of the criminal case, the investigating authorities will establish the reasons and circumstances of the incident, as well as the severity of the poisoning of the workers of the Sakhalin enterprise. As a result of the investigation, an assessment will be made of the actions of persons responsible for the quality of food and food preparation, and preventive measures will be taken.

On the same day, May 4, it became known that 14 workers of the Energostroy enterprise, located in Uglegorsk in the Sakhalin Region, were hospitalized due to poisoning.
