April 3 is World Book and Copyright Day. On this day in 1616 M. Servantes, W. Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died. It is also the birthday or death of such famous authors as Maurice Druon, Haldour Laxness, J. Pla and Manuel Mejia Vallejo.

In 1995, at the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris, it was decided to pay tribute to books and authors on April 23, urging everyone (and especially young people) to enjoy reading the book.

The decision to establish this holiday should have served to educate and develop awareness of cultural traditions.

Today, librarians, writers, journalists, as well as bookstore employees and all book and reading lovers can be congratulated on the holiday.
