Acting head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergei Melikov confirmed the coronavirus. This was announced on Wednesday, November 25, by the head of the press service of the administration of the head and government of the region, Nizami Hajibalayev.

“Today, after passing another test for COVID-19, the interim head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, confirmed the coronavirus. Now Sergei Alimovich is on self-isolation, he observes all the recommendations of the doctors, ”TASS quotes Hajibalaev.

According to him, Melikov feels good and plans to work remotely, meetings with his participation will be held online.

As of November 24, 18,338 cases of infection were registered in Dagestan, including 104 over the last day, 16,517 people recovered, 901 died.

Earlier, on October 5, Melikov was appointed acting head of Dagestan. Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Melikov’s predecessor in this post – Vladimir Vasiliev, on the same day he appointed him adviser to the president.
