Video cameras captured the alleged participant in the attack on blogger Yegor Zhukov, convicted of incitement to extremism, in Moscow. The footage on Monday, August 31, was at the disposal of the REN TV channel.

The recording shows how a young man in a mask sat for about an hour on a bench near Zhukov’s house. After that, he got up and rode off on a scooter in an unknown direction.

“Zhukov’s team” on the Telegram channel reported on August 31 that the police had opened a criminal case under Art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Beating”. It is reported that the MRI results of Zhukov did not reveal any serious injuries. At the moment Zhukov is at home with his family. Investigative actions are being carried out together with his lawyer.

On August 30, it was reported that Zhukov, a student at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), was attacked near the entrance of his house in Moscow.

After the beating, the unknown disappeared. The blogger’s representative noted that Zhukov did not have time to consider the attackers. The blogger posted a photo of the aftermath of the beating on his Instagram page.

In December 2019, the court found Zhukov guilty of using the Internet to “carry out calls for extremist activity.” The court sentenced him to three years of probation.
