In the Borisoglebsk district of the Yaroslavl region, in the forest on the territory of an old sandy quarry, a dump of mercury lamps was found. In total, local residents found more than 200 lamps.

Such lamps are considered to be highly toxic hazard class 1 waste. At the moment, all toxic lamps have been collected and removed from the forest area. They will be disposed of at a special facility.

Specialists from the Department of Environmental Protection are conducting a special investigation in order to establish who could have thrown this poisonous stuff into the forest.

Law enforcement agencies are also involved in the search.

Mercury is certainly poisonous to humans and animals. does not decompose, accumulates in the soil, creates toxic compounds.

For such “disposal” individuals can be punished with a fine of 4 thousand. And legal entities are fined up to half a million.
