The press service of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Smolensk region said that for remote fraud against a resident of Smolensk, a resident of Yoshkar-Ola could face up to five years in prison. The police station on duty received a statement from a 42-year-old resident of Roslavl. He said that an unknown person fraudulently took possession of his money in the amount of more than 18,000 rubles.

The man became interested in the Internet announcement of the sale of a game console, talked to its owner on a mobile phone and transferred 18 thousand rubles to the seller’s account. However, the goods did not arrive, and the author of the advertisement for the sale stopped contacting.

Employees of the criminal investigation department established the involvement of a resident of the city of Yoshkar-Ola, born in 2003, in the fraud. He explained that he decided in this way to get the money he needed, which he had already spent.

The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation “Roslavlsky” opened a criminal case on fraud under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
