Ukraine will not allow itself to interfere in the American elections, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He also stressed that interference in the sovereign elections of another country is unacceptable “under any circumstances.”

“I assure our partners once again that Ukraine did not allow and will not allow itself to interfere in the elections in the future and thereby damage our trusting and sincere partnership with the United States,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Saturday, August 8.

According to him, preventing Ukraine from being drawn into the internal politics of the United States is a matter of the country’s national security. In this regard, the Ukrainian leader called on the citizens of the country to refrain from any activity related to the presidential elections in the United States.

“The reputation of Ukraine is worth much more than the reputation of any of our politicians. Therefore, let us not exchange Ukraine for situational benefits, ”he concluded.

On August 5, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that under the Rewards for Justice program, the State Department is offering up to $ 10 million to those who discover or identify individuals who, under the “control of foreign governments”, interfere in the US elections.

In turn, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova ridiculed the given promise, stating that the State Department’s website “will fall from denunciations to neighbors.”

The first accusations about Russia’s alleged influence on internal processes in the United States were made in 2016 after Republican Donald Trump won the presidential election. However, according to the results of the investigation, the Justice Department never found an agreement between Trump and Moscow during the election campaign.
