President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on August 7 that 11 days of silence give hope for a resolution of the armed conflict in Donbass.
“Normandy” gave a huge impetus for us to develop the logistics of the world. “Minsk” works out the rules and gives an opportunity to discuss extremely difficult issues. And 11 days of silence prove that if everything is done correctly and persistently, then there will definitely be a chance. Already there, “Zelensky wrote in his Telegram channel.
He noted that further resolution of this issue is expected at the meeting of the Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France), which will be held in Berlin, but the date is still unknown.
“The next stop is Berlin, where we will record the intermediate successes of the armistice and move on. To finally close the war case. And we will do everything to make it so. And we will do it transparently, openly. And if something goes wrong, then everyone will understand what went wrong and why. And who is to blame for this, ”the president added.
On the eve, Zelensky also expressed the hope that the regime of silence in Donbass will be observed and assured that Kiev is doing everything possible for this.
At the talks of the contact group on Donbass in the Minsk format on July 22, the parties agreed on additional measures to “support and comply with the current indefinite ceasefire for the entire period until a complete comprehensive settlement of the conflict”, which entered into force on July 27.
The Ukrainian headquarters of the Joint Forces operation, in turn, also announced that it had taken measures for a ceasefire in the Donbass.
Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Kiev. The settlement issues are being discussed in the Minsk format and at the meetings of the Normandy Four.
