The Russian Foreign Ministry is currently trying to pull out Russian journalists detained in Minsk on Thursday. This was announced to the Izvestia correspondent on August 27 by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The detained Russian journalists were taken to the Oktyabrskoye police department of Minsk, the consul came to them, the accreditation is being checked. This was reported by a RIA Novosti correspondent.

According to him, local journalists have already begun to be released. About 15 people remain in the police department.

Earlier on Thursday, it became known that journalists of various media were detained in Minsk, first on Freedom Square, and then on Independence Square. Among the detainees were two correspondents and an Izvestia operator.

The journalists of the Izvestia Information Center filmed a video from the paddy wagon, saying that it was dark and hot in the cabin. There are about 30 people on the bus and all the windows are closed.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus said that the media officers were taken to the police department to check their documents and promised to release them soon.

Earlier on the same day, a column of about a thousand people reached Independence Square in Minsk. The riot police blocked the people there and did not allow them to break out of the cordon.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, as of August 27, 56 people were detained for participating in unauthorized mass events in the country over the past day.

Protests continue in Belarus after the August 9 presidential elections. According to the Central Election Commission, Alexander Lukashenko became the winner for the sixth time.
