The statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevichus on Belarus cause frank bewilderment and only shake the situation. This opinion on Tuesday, August 25, was expressed by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“He says that he observes“ with excitement ”by what means the authorities are“ fighting against their people ”, who, they say, are“ in danger ”. We believe that the accusations from the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry against the authorities of the neighboring country of “disrespect to their people” are at least inappropriate, ”the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Zakharova as saying.
She noted that such statements can only be regarded as interference in the internal affairs of another state. In addition, Zakharova condemned Vilnius for considering the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko “illegitimate”, but at the same time granting one of the candidates for the post of head of state asylum in Lithuania.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that opposition rallies in Belarus are being led by Western countries.
On the eve, Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Andrei Ravkov urged Belarusians, impressed by foreign actions in support of the opposition in the republic, not to rely on “imported emotions”.
In Belarus, after the August 9 presidential elections, protests continue. According to the CEC, Lukashenka became the winner for the sixth time. People who did not agree with the voting results took to the streets. Workers at some factories went on strike.
