Young Kalmyk chess player became the first in the rapid tournament

Five-year-old Kalmyk chess player Roman Shogdzhiev took first place in the rapid tournament – rapid chess.

Open chess tournaments in classical, rapid and blitz were held last weekend in the Moscow shopping and entertainment complex Vegas-Kuntsevo. The organizer of the competition, which covered all age and rating categories, was the Russian Pedagogical Chess Union.

In category C (2003 year of birth and younger) 26 chess players took part in the rapid tournament with a control time of 10 minutes plus 5 seconds for each move made. Five-year-old Kalmyk chess player Roman Shogdzhiev, who played for the city of Moscow, showed an excellent result. In seven rounds, he scored seven possible points and took 1st place. The boy is coached by Dmitry Sarangov.

The event was organized in compliance with all requirements for the prevention of coronavirus infection.
