The spokesman for American diplomacy Ned Price assured that Washington had “communicated” its position to Moscow “without ambiguities”, “in public” but also “by other channels”.
“Since they are responsible for the deterioration of his state of health, we call on them to immediately allow access to the necessary independent doctors,” he told reporters.
“There must be no doubt that there will be consequences” if something happens to the Russian opponent in detention, he insisted, reiterating the warning sent by the White House on Sunday.
“We are certainly considering additional political measures and we will not hesitate to resort to them, if it turns out to be in our interest and in the interest of human rights in Russia, in connection with the situation of Mr. Navalny,” he said. added Ned Price. He recalled that the United States had already imposed sanctions in March on Russian officials on the matter.
