Vucic announced possible production of Russian vaccine in Serbia

Serbia is considering the possibility of joint production of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V. This was announced on Sunday, December 20, by President Aleksandar Vucic.

“I believe that there is such a prospect, we talked about it (with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov – editor’s note). If all the indicators are good, but for now they are positive, I think it is possible in Serbia, ”the head of Serbia said during an examination of the opening hospital for coronavirus infected in the city of Krusevac.

According to him, the Russian vaccine is being studied by the country’s specialists. They will analyze the documents for all phases of the study, as Vucic emphasized, the quality of the drug was highly rated. The President added that they plan to start vaccination as soon as possible, and wished Russia a speedy victory over the disease, the Tanyug agency reports.

Earlier in December, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and Serbia had confirmed their intention to develop cooperation to combat coronavirus. Specialists from the two countries are in contact regarding the development and production of a vaccine against COVID-19.

According to the Worldometer portal, as of December 19, almost 297 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Serbia. At the same time, more than 2.6 thousand people died.

The first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and the world was registered on August 11. Sputnik V was developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Center. In the same month, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced the launch of the vaccine into production and issued a permit for a post-registration study.
