The number of COVID-19 cases in Russia may increase by the fall. This opinion on Sunday, March 14, was expressed by Alexei Agranovsky, professor of the Department of Virology, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University.

“The rise by autumn is possible. Because COVID-19 is basically a seasonal viral disease, “he said on the air of the Moscow Says radio station.

He also expressed the hope that citizens will be vaccinated more actively, since the epidemiological situation depends on this. Agranovsky stressed that people tolerate COVID-19 in different ways, and vaccination will help protect against the disease.

Currently, as the expert added, the COVID-19 incidence curve is decreasing due to the vaccinated people and the formation of immunity.

On March 12, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said that the existence of several vaccines against coronavirus infection in Russia makes it possible to give the most optimistic forecasts for the epidemic situation.

According to her, at present, the main task is to create such a layer of citizens vaccinated against COVID-19, which will prevent the coronavirus from spreading.
